For couples in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut who need time, clarity, and a space that holds the full weight of what’s happening between you
Weekly therapy is valuable and effective for many couples. Extended sessions simply offer a different kind of container — more time, fewer interruptions, and a chance to sit with what surfaces instead of shelving it until next week.
Some couples find that this format helps them get underneath long-standing patterns more quickly. Others simply feel more grounded when they don’t have to rush
A different kind of space:
Extended sessions are for:
Extended work is often a good fit for couples who feel like every conflict starts somewhere small — dishes, plans, timing, chores — but quickly opens the door to the bigger questions:
“How can we have the same fight again?”
“Why does everything blow up?”
“Why don’t you get it?”
“You never understand me”
“We can never move on”
It’s not about the dishwasher. It’s about the deeper injuries and adaptations that get activated underneath it.
FAQs
-
An extended session is simply a longer, structured therapy appointment — 90 minutes, 3 hours, or 6 hours — designed to give couples enough space to understand what’s happening beneath recurring conflict. It’s not a replacement for weekly therapy; it’s an option for couples who benefit from fewer interruptions and a deeper pace.
-
This format is often helpful for couples who find themselves stuck in the same loop: the argument starts small (dishes, schedules, tone) and quickly escalates into fear, resentment, disconnection, or questions about the future. If you’re carrying trauma histories, facing a major life transition, or feeling unsure about staying together, the additional time can help you gain clarity.

No single session — extended or not — can promise that. Extended work offers clarity, movement, and understanding of your patterns.
