FAQ
-
How do I know if therapy is right for my relationship?
If you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure whether things can get better, therapy can help clarify what’s possible. Whether you're constantly fighting, living like roommates, or on the brink of separation, therapy provides tools and insight to make intentional choices—not reactive ones. We offer both traditional therapy and Discernment Counseling to help with relationship ambivalence. Learn more here.

What makes Attached NY different from other therapy practices?
We don’t just offer therapy—we help you make sense of your patterns, heal relational wounds, and reclaim who you are. Our therapists-in-training receive intensive support and supervision, and our licensed clinicians are trained in Relational Life Therapy (RLT), somatic trauma work, and inclusive care for LGBTQ+, CNM, neurodivergent, and marginalized clients. You won’t get cookie-cutter therapy here—we build a plan that actually fits your life.
-
What is Discernment Counseling?
Discernment Counseling is a short-term process for couples who are unsure whether to stay together. It’s not ongoing therapy—it’s a way to get clarity on whether to rebuild the relationship, separate, or take a structured pause. We guide you through the decision-making with compassion, structure, and no pressure to land in one direction. Learn more here.

Do you offer virtual or in-person therapy?
Yes to both. Most of our sessions are virtual and available to clients in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. We also have in-person offices in:
Ringwood, NJ
Stony Brook, NY
Occasional sessions in Brooklyn, NY
-
Do you work with queer, non-monogamous, or neurodivergent clients?
Yes, absolutely. Many of our clients are queer, trans, non-monogamous, neurodivergent, or recovering from religious/cultural harm. You won’t have to explain your identity here—we already value the complexity of it.
-
How long are sessions?
Most sessions are 45–55 minutes. We also offer 90–120 minute intensives for trauma work or couples needing deeper support. Couples often shift to biweekly sessions once stable, to avoid turning therapy into a place to store the weekly fight.
-
Do you take insurance?
Lyn is in-network with Aetna and United Healthcare for individual therapy. For all other services, we are out-of-network, and we can provide superbills for you to submit for reimbursement. Learn more here.
