Sliding Scale Self-Assessment
Our goal is to provide ethical, trauma-informed care while also making therapy more accessible. The sliding scale below is meant to be a tool for reflection, not a test. You know your life and your needs best. Please choose the tier that most closely reflects your current circumstances.
Standard Full Rates:
Couples: $250/session
Individuals: $150/session
Sliding Scale Tiers:
🪴 Tier 1 – Sustaining Rate
Couples: $250 | Individuals: $150
This rate reflects the full cost of therapy and sustains our practice, allowing us to pay staff equitably and offer lower-cost options to others.
You may fall into this tier if you:
Have a stable income that meets all your needs and allows for savings, travel, and leisure.
Own a home or property or have access to generational wealth.
Hold a high-earning position or dual-income household with little debt.
Have access to extensive financial support in emergencies.
🌾 Tier 2 – Middle Rate
Couples: $200 | Individuals: $125
This rate helps cover most operational costs and allows us to stretch our services more widely.
You may fall into this tier if you:
Can meet your basic needs (housing, food, healthcare) without significant stress.
Have some expendable income for occasional dining out, subscriptions, or travel.
Have moderate student debt, childcare expenses, or medical costs that affect your budget.
Are self-employed, freelancing, or in a field with variable income but relative stability.
🌿 Tier 3 – Supported Rate
Couples: $175 | Individuals: $100
This rate is reserved for those who would not be able to access therapy without financial accommodation.
You may fall into this tier if you:
Often worry about meeting basic needs like rent, food, or utilities.
Work in underpaid or unstable jobs, or are unemployed without reliable support.
Have significant debt, caregiving responsibilities, or out-of-pocket healthcare costs.
Are part of a historically marginalized community with limited generational wealth or systemic barriers to economic access.
🔍 Reflection Questions to Help You Choose a Tier:
Do I regularly worry about affording food, housing, or medical care?
Do I have access to assets, savings, or family financial support if needed?
Is my income steady, or does it fluctuate in ways that cause stress or uncertainty?
Do I have significant debt from school, medical costs, or other life expenses?
Do I financially support dependents, including children, elders, or others?
Am I navigating financial hardship due to systemic injustice (e.g., racism, ableism, transphobia)?
Am I in a position to pay full rate and, in doing so, help subsidize care for others in my community?
We trust you to choose the rate that fits your current reality. If your financial situation changes, you're always welcome to revisit your rate. If you’re unsure or have unique circumstances, we’re happy to talk through it with you.
💡Additional Options: Working with a Therapist-in-Training
Individuals: $30–$90 | Couples: $30–$90
At Attached NY, we’re committed to expanding access to therapy while offering grounded, relational, and trauma-informed care. One way we do that is by offering lower-cost sessions with therapists-in-training—graduate-level clinicians in the final stages of earning their degrees.
These therapists are exchanging their time for clinical hours toward graduation, not financial compensation. This allows both client and clinician to benefit: the therapist gets real-world experience and close supervision, while clients receive thoughtful, supported care at a more accessible rate.
Therapist Match & Scope Matter Most
While affordability is important, the therapist-client match is always our top priority. Experienced supervisors support every therapist-in-training, and we ensure they work within their scope and capacity. The extra layers of support mean we can respond quickly to any concerns and offer high-quality care that aligns with each client's needs.
Is this a good fit for you?
This option might be right if:
You’re looking for affordable, values-aligned therapy
You’re open to working with someone newer to the field but backed by a full team
You value collaborative, reflective care and want to support future therapists
